Do my height safety systems need to be inspected?

OSH Regulation 3.51 requires fall injury prevention systems be inspected at regular intervals by a competent person

AS/NZS 1891.4 states that harnesses, lanyards and fall arrest devices should be inspected at intervals not exceeding 6 months

OSH Regulation 3.53 requires that permanent anchorage points be inspected at intervals not exceeding 6 months

Did You Know?

By law all height safety equipment needs to be inspected on a regular basis (in most cases every 6 months).

Not just anyone can conduct these inspections. The Regulations require that competent, trained and experienced persons with knowledge and skills in inspection of height safety equipment conduct these inspections.

SRE have internationally qualified inspectors ready to come to you.

Compare Us

Whilst some competitors reports consist of a simple checklist, SRE's reporting system allows for stringent inspections that highlight exactly what systems you have installed, and any ways you can improve in your site's safety. But don't just take our word for it, have a look at what our client's say about our services.

"During my 18 years service with Savills WA, Safety & Rescue Equipment Pty Ltd (SRE) have given us a fantastic service and cover around 80% of the properties that we manage. Their staff are very efficient and will always help you whenever asked.

The services they provide to us cover the required 6 monthly height safety system inspections, initial reviews of height safety for new and existing buildings and installation works.

Therefore with the above in mind, I would have no hesitation in recommending SRE to any other business or company."

Mr Tom Burlinson - Associate Director - Savills WA

"The team at S&RE are always willing to work within our timeframes and requirements. Their staff conduct all tasks with a professional and friendly manner and efficiency. They have always worked with us to ensure there is minimal disturbance to our tenants and business operations."

Mr Grant Reid - Facilities Manager - Campus Living Villages

"We have used Safety & Rescue Equipment Pty Ltd as our preferred supplier for the past three years. They have always acted professionally and promptly. Nothing is too much trouble and they are always available to offer advice when needed. They carry out our six monthly inspections on our PPE and also inspect and test the installations on our buildings. I have no trouble in recommending their services to anyone."

Mr Tony Argent - External Service Co‐ordinator - The Bethanie Group

"I wanted to pass on my thanks and acknowledge the professionalism of one of your employees. Lee Epis was engaged to conduct a routine inspection of our workshop roof and while undertaking this task noticed that some equipment being used by one of our contractors was not compliant. He notified our OSH Coordinator straight away. Lee then provided a very comprehensive report which included not only the issue but also potential solutions and the way the report was written and presented was first class. We then acted on this immediately and got it rectified.

Thankyou to Lee and also SRE for this “duty of care” driven approach. I was really impressed."

Tagging Equipment

SRE have refined the tagging of equipment. Insecurity of tags was a major problem in the past.

This has been overcome with the introduction of SRE's new ratchet tag and log record.

Do I need a height safety system on my roof?

OSH Regulation 3.49 requires that each risk of falling from height be identified, assessed and reduced accordingly

OSH Regulation 3.55 requires that if persons can fall 3mtrs or more from a roof either edge protection (guardrails) or a fall injury prevention system (harnesses, anchor points, static lines etc) must be used.

Why Inspect?

Harnesses, lanyards and permanently installed systems are effective in minimizing the risk of working at heights. To do this properly they must be in good working order.
